It’s Fall Y’all

After General Conference the first weekend of October and being on a spiritual high, the second week of October started out on a much more somber note. Monday, October 6th we attended the viewing for President Russell M Nelson.  They estimated 18,560 people visited the Conference Center in order to pay respects to this great man.

Then on Tuesday, October 7th they held the funeral for President Nelson at the Conference Center which we were also able to attend. It was a touching event attended by around 20,000 people -- close to 600 were members of the Nelson family.  When he passed at 101 years of age, he was the world's oldest leader of a global faith organization. And he stayed very active and involved until just recently!  What an example!

After the funeral

One humorous bit of information, since we live just across the street from the Conference Center, we can see vehicles come and go into the garage of the building.  So as the hearse was leaving for the cemetary, instead of being followed by limousines and personal vehicles (for the family) we saw 5 big passenger buses following the hearse. This was the family's means of transportation for the graveside services. The windows were tinted so we couldn't actually see inside but we could see shadows that looked like all the rows were occupied.  That's a lot of family (and friends even)!

I really like this drawing -- This is how I picture him in my mind.

It is getting cooler here in Utah.  The nights are in the 40s and the days usually in the high 60s or maybe the mid-70s.  I saw something online (probably Pinterest) that said:

Welcome to Utah
Winter is at 6 am
Spring starts at 10 am
Summer is at 2 pm
And fall starts around 4:30ish
Dress accordingly!!

This is sooo true.  You can go through several 'costume changes' if you don't dress in layers! We plan to start looking for snow shoes this week in preparation for what will probably come.  You can already see snow on the tops of the mountains!

Gaby shares pictures of Celeste so looking at this cute face is the mood elevator that was so welcome.  We get to spend time with the kiddos here at least once a week.  It is such a blessing!

We got the visit with Lance & Amanda this past Friday. They came to town for a friend's wedding and stopped in to spend a few hours with us.  We had dinner and did LOTS of catching up on the latest in their so very busy lives.  After walking around in City Creek, we ended up at the BYU Creamery inside the Deseret Book at City Creek.  It was a treat to see them.  We are looking forward to them bringing their children up this way later in the year for a visit!!

Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead -- may it be filled with peace, good health and lasting happiness.  Take time to breathe deeply, smile often and enjoy the moments that bring you joy!

We love and appreciate you
being a part of our adventures.
